RESTREPO
Today at Hot Docs, a documentary festival in Toronto, I had the extreme honour of watching RESTREPO and hearing Sebastian Junger speak about the film, his experience, and the loss of his good friend Tim Hetherington, who co-created this film. We also got to see a short film called Diary, made by Tim as a reflection on his 10 years of being a war reporter. The screening of both films was a really powerful tribute to Hetherington and the amazing work he did.
Junger summed up RESTREPO poignantly while reflecting on his own experiences and Tim's recent death in Libya: "the really terrible thing about war, it's not that you yourself might get killed, it's that your friends, your brothers might get killed."
